Local Area Attractions Near Lava Hot Springs East KOA Holiday

Lava Hot Springs KOA East is located 11.5 miles off of I-15 (exit #47).  The KOA East location is a clean, renovated campground with several new cabins, RV sites, and tent sites. The "World Famous Hot Springs" is only a short walk away from any campsite. These natural geothermal hot springs range in temperatures of 102-112 degrees Fahrenheit, and are sulfur free.

Local winter attractions include the Pebble Creek Ski Area. The 9,271' summit has breath taking views you won't want to miss. This small mountain ski resort is only 20 minutes away, and will challenge the best skier with steep slopes and moguls.  A nice soak in the hot springs is a must after a long day of skiing, or traveling. Then slip into a private, quaint and cozy cabin at the KOA, and fall asleep to the sounds of nature.   The Fire & Ice Winter Festival is held the first weekend of every February. This once voted "zaniest" event is one to attend, and reprieve those long winter blues.  Enjoy wine tasting, great food, a light parade, a polar bear float, fire dancers, firework show, and live entertainment. Our local Baker Ranch provides snowshoeing and cross country trails.

Summer activities are available between Memorial Day thru Labor Day.  The Olympic-sized swimming pool with a water park, river tubing, zip lining, biking, hiking, golfing, and fishing are popular summer activities.  Fishing and swimming the Portneuf River from any of our RV campsites #2-16 is a memory to capture.  Fishing licenses are available at the local Sunny Side Sinclair gas station. An afternoon of visiting the historic Chesterfield ghost town is visited by many guests of LDS religious faith, and historic interests.  The world's only captive geyser is a scenic 20 minute drive East of Lava Hot Springs, in the small town of Soda Springs. While in Soda Springs, many adventurists enjoy range shooting, archery practice, golfing, Nordic Ski Association, and ATV riding.  The Grand Teton National Park is 135 miles away and continuing on is Yellowstone National Park.

Another fun day trip is the Fort Hall Indian Casino, located 45 minutes North of Lava Hot Springs. Enjoy High Steaks Bingo, hundreds of slots, food, and well-known entertainment.  For a complete line up of upcoming entertainment, visit www.shobangaming.com
